This session will focus on case intake, questionnaires, and screening. The presenters will teach conference participants how to create a thoughtful and organized intake system for innocence cases. We will encourage participants to brainstorm potential issues when creating a new system and how to improve previously existing systems. We will also discuss how to create an effective screening questionnaire that gathers necessary factual and legal information necessary to determine whether a project wants to accept a case for further investigation and/or litigation, while also considering the limitations of potential clients. We will also discuss creating and implementing a screening process once the inmate has requested help, sent in the initial screening questionnaire, and complies with the initial intake criteria.
