Pro bono lawyers have done fantastic work for innocence organizations all over the country -- representing clients, screening cases, writing amicus briefs, helping with corporate-governance issues, and more. But working with pro bono lawyers can be complicated, and the experience can be very different from firm to firm. They may not be experts in this area of the law, may need more supervision than anticipated, and also may have pressures about billable work that complicate their ability to meet internal deadlines.
