Edda Mellas

Edda Mellas, a schoolteacher, is the mother of Amanda Knox and her younger sister. Edda traveled back and forth between Seattle and Perugia, Italy to be at Amanda’s side during her wrongful imprisonment for the November 2007 murder and sexual assault of her housemate Meredith Kercher in Perugia, until her conviction was finally overturned on March 27, 2015 by the Supreme Court of Italy. She testified at Amanda’s trial, and later, she and her former husband, Curt Knox, were indicted for libel and ordered to stand trial for alleging that Italian police abused their daughter. Edda continues to support Amanda as she gets her life back.
