Michael Semanchik holds the position of Staff Attorney at the California Innocence Project. He received his B.S. from Duquesne University and his J.D. from California Western School of Law. He has served as counsel on numerous criminal cases and was instrumental in the exoneration of Brian Banks (May 2012). He has successfully negotiated post-conviction DNA testing in several cases and speaks regularly about the causes of wrongful conviction. In 2012, California Lawyer Magazine awarded him the prestigious “Lawyer of the Year” award.
