Sarah Spangenburg is a senior at John Carroll University. She is pursuing a degree in political science with minors in Philosophy and Peace, Justice and Human Rights. Sarah attended the Innocence Network Conference with one of her professors in 2013. While at the conference, she was struck by the absence of undergraduate students. She returned to John Carroll and helped form the Wrongful Convictions Committee which has worked to raise awareness for wrongful convictions. She has helped to bring exonerees and Ohio Innocence Project speakers to JCU and is a founding member of OIP-u (Ohio Innocence Project-universities) whose goal is to connect undergraduate institutions in Ohio to raise statewide awareness for this issue.
